In this research project, we observed and researched organizations and their strategies of public engagement, especially in UK and the Netherlands, as our first step. We have visited and exchanged our ideas at leading institutes and universities of public engagement on biomedical technologies, such as Wellcome Trust, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and Royal Society in the UK, and Rathenau Institute in the Netherlands. We also joined the CRISPRcon 2019 meeting. What we have found can be summed up in three points below: (1) the necessity of public funding and the schemes for evaluating them, (2) the broader scope and different angles of the objects of study, and (3) the involvement of citizens in order to collect people’s inner voices.
