We held a research project meeting and a workshop in Sakushima (Aichi Prefecture) in October 2017. The research project meeting aimed to recognise the organizational aspects of the history and cultures of the island. The uniqueness of the island is supported by collaborations between local government and the local community, introducing and proactively promoting art and design to revitalise the island. Another purpose of the meeting was to share creativity between the project members and people working for the island, including an art director. Through a workshop at Benten Salon, we scrutinised the concept and process of the project involving the use of visual thinking methods. This experience suggested the possibility of applying visual thinking methods to discuss bioethical issues with citizens.
