We held a research project meeting in February 2017, and a workshop in May 2019 in Teshima, Kagawa Prefecture. The 2017 research project meeting aimed to understand historical changes in the artistic, cultural and environmental contexts of the island. As the first step of the project, we also shared the knowledge and experiences of the project members. The 2019 workshop was held during the Setouchi Triennale 2019, at Karato-kodo (the pre-workshop at the Umi no Restaurant) to finalise our concept and approach, using original artwork and visual thinking methods with locals. Through these activities, we found the perspective of art and design is a useful way to collaborate with people who are not familiar with science, technology, and policy making, including children and teenagers.
